The Watch In the Morning of La Petite Mort OnlineUS Commerce Department said Thursday it is evaluating new regulations to address national security concerns that could limit or prohibit Chinese drones in the country, Reuters reported. The department is seeking public feedback by March 4 on proposed measures to secure the drone supply chain, warning that drones from China and Russia could potentially be remotely accessed and manipulated, exposing sensitive US data. Last month, President Joe Biden signed a law that could prohibit China-based DJI and Autel Robotics from selling new drone models in the US. Within a year, an unspecified US agency must assess whether drones from these companies pose significant national security risks. DJI, the world’s largest drone manufacturer, currently sells more than half of all commercial drones in the US. [Reuters]
